Jessica Simpson Announces Divorce After 10 Years Of Marriage
Singer Jessica Simpson announced she’s divorcing her husband of ten years, former NFL player Eric Johnson.
The 44-year-old singer and Johnson, 45, share three children, daughters Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 12, and Birdie Mae, 5, and son Ace Knute, 11.
“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson said in a statement to People. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
The outlet noted that Johnson was seen without his wedding ring in November. Around the same time, Simpson posted photos of herself in a recording studio, which sparked rumors due to the caption she posted on Instagram.

“Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic,” the singer wrote at the time. “This comeback is personal. It’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.”
Simpson was previously married to 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey from 2002 until 2005. She met Johnson in 2010 and was engaged within six months.
Simpson said in August 2023 that she had thought herself unloveable before Johnson came along. “I don’t find it hard to love anybody, but I have always thought that I was hard to love, that I was too much for people, or my schedule was too demanding,” she told People at the time.
“He knows my heart and understands my heart more than anyone I’ve ever met in my life,” she continued. “I knew the instant we met that I could see my future in his eyes and with a lot of people, I hope for a future in their eyes, but with Eric, I saw it.”
The singer also discussed how the couple tried to keep the romance alive even during the stress of raising children, explaining how she believed he was “such a good dad and a good man.”
