Joni Ernst Announces She Will Now Vote To Confirm Pete Hegseth
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) said Tuesday evening that she has decided to vote to confirm Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense following his confirmation hearing earlier in the day.
Ernst made the remarks during an interview with Simon Conway on NEWSRADIO 1040 WHO.
“He was adequately able to answer all of my questions, he pointed out the woke issues at the Pentagon, and I think we are [at] a point where now we can start moving forward,” Ernst said. “People know where he stands on these issues, so I felt it was a good hearing.”
When asked if she would now vote to confirm Hegseth, Ernst responded: “Yes, I will be supporting President Trump’s pick for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth.”

Ernst was the main hurdle that Hegseth faced on the road to being confirmed as he first had to get voted out of the Senate Armed Services Committee before the full Senate could vote on whether to confirm him.
Hegseth has faced scrutiny after a past misconduct, some of which he has owned up to while he has vigorously denied allegations made in anonymously sourced reports.
