Joy Behar Fawns Over Woke Bishop: ‘More Fearlessness Than Anyone In Congress’

Joy Behar raved on Wednesday over the guest on ABC’s “The View,” the “woke” Episcopal Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, who used a Tuesday prayer service to lob political attacks from the pulpit toward President Donald Trump.

Behar praised Budde as she introduced the Washington, D.C. Diocese’s first female bishop, saying that she’d shown “more fearlessness than anyone in Congress right now” when she stood at the pulpit and called on Trump to show “mercy” to transgender people and illegal aliens.

“So let me ask you this,” Behar began. “What made you decide to use that opportunity for this message and did you have any apprehension about it?”

“Thank you, first of all, for allowing me to be with you today,” Budde replied. “My responsibility that morning, yesterday morning, was to reflect — to pray with the nation for unity.”

“And as I was pondering what are the foundations of unity, I, you know, I wanted to emphasize respecting the honor and dignity of every human being, basic honesty and humility,” she claimed. “And then I also realized that in — that unity requires a certain degree of mercy, mercy and compassion and understanding.”

“And so knowing that a lot of people, as I said, in our country right now are really scared, I wanted to take the opportunity in the context of that service for unity to say we need to treat everyone with dignity,” Budde continued. “And we need to be merciful, and to — I was trying to counter the narrative that is so divisive and polarizing and in which people, real people are being — are being harmed.”

Trump responded to Budde’s service by saying first that it had not been “very good,” later posting on Truth Social that her tone had been “nasty.”
