‘Major Sleazebag’: Trump Reacts To Jim Acosta News
President Donald Trump absolutely torched former CNN anchor Jim Acosta as a “major sleazebag” following news that Acosta was out at the network.
In a post from Trump on his Truth Social account, the president reacted to reports that the former CNN Chief White House correspondent had been offered the chance to anchor a graveyard shift show from midnight until 2 am ET or leave after almost 18 years at the network. Trump’s comments came hours before Acosta signed off, telling the audience, “After weighing an alternative time slot CNN offered me, I’ve decided to move on.”
“Wow, really good news! Jim Acosta, one of the worst and most dishonest reporters in journalistic history, a major sleazebag, has been relegated by CNN Fake News to the Midnight hour, ‘Death Valley,’ because of extraordinarily BAD RATINGS (and no talent!),” the president wrote on his social media account.
“Word is that he wants to QUIT, and that would be even better. Jim is a major loser who will fail no matter where he ends up,” he added. “Good luck Jim!”

Acosta said he learned during his career that “it is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant” and that, as a member of the media, it’s the job of the press to “hold power to account,” without ever specifically naming Trump.
“I’ve always tried to do that here at CNN,” he added. “And I plan on going doing all of that in the future.”
Acosta then went on a bizarre rant, telling people to “not give in to the lies, don’t give in to the fear, hold on to the truth and to hope” before saying his plans would be revealed at a later time.
During his career at the network, Acosta served as a correspondent between 2007 and February 2012, when he was promoted to national political correspondent. He was promoted to senior White House correspondent in August 2013, then promoted to chief White House correspondent on January 9, 2018. Concurrent with the beginning of the Biden administration, Acosta was named chief domestic correspondent and weekend anchor.
