Snow continues Thursday
A winter storm warning continues most of Thursday for much of central and southeast Minnesota with winter weather advisories north and south of the warned area.
Snow will continue much of Thursday with the heaviest falling during the morning hours. Lighter snow will taper off by Thursday evening into the early overnight.
We’ll see up to an additional 1 to 2 inches in the Twin Cities but the majority of our snowfall accumulation is now behind us. Heavier snowfall rates will persist through mid to late morning in the Twin Cities metro area.
The storm’s total snowfall will be most significant across east-central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities and up along the North Shore. Lighter amounts will be seen in southwestern Minnesota and near the Canadian border.
Temperatures will be in the 20s and teens during the day Thursday for the most part, allowing for salt to work fairly well, at least on roadways across the Twin Cities.
Overnight will be colder with subzero readings north to teens in the southeast.
Friday and Saturday will both be chilly but also with some sunshine. Highs will be mostly in the teens.
Another clipper system moves in late Sunday into early Monday with some lighter snowfall.
The models have varied on the track of this system, but it could bring 1 or 2 inches to parts of Minnesota.
Mild weather returns next week. Highs will be above freezing for southern Minnesota, so enjoy the fresh snow while you can!
