Why Conservatives Have A Happiness Advantage (And How To Keep It)

With the recent election of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the greatest nation that has ever existed, conservatives have plenty to be happy about. But even before the biggest political comeback in history, it turns out our side is way less gloomy than the blue-haired libs anyway.

Even the far-left-leaning New York Times admitted that the “happiness gap” between conservatives and liberals is vast and hasn’t changed for more than 50 years.

It could have something to do with liberals having a perpetual, woe-is-me victim mentality. Their unhappiness is likely a byproduct of being so incredibly wrong, and realizing it subconsciously. It can’t be easy being wrong all the time.

As one opinion columnist for the Times suggested, “the right are less likely to be angered or upset by social and economic inequities, believing that the system rewards those who work hard, that hierarchies are part of the natural order of things and that market outcomes are fundamentally fair.”

The NYT writer admitted that libs are more likely to believe they (and others) have no personal agency, which leads to feelings of hopelessness and despair. After all, if the whole system is rigged, why bother trying? And if you’re not trying, what’s the point of living? No wonder they’re so sad.

Conservatism can be described in a lot of ways, and one of them is the belief in personal responsibility. It’s the understanding that your personal actions have consequences, and that you are in control of your own destiny.
